3. Luwai’s Exploration Journal

After the horrific nightmare of the dragon, which seemed to be an ominous prophecy of impending dangers in Iria, Chief Kawsay has asked you to find the Heart of Courcle.  While attempting to figure out where to even start looking for this mirror that allegedly shows the past, present and future of Iria, Tupai contacted you.

1) Longa Desert Ruins

Tupai was worried about Luwai, who has become lifeless and depressed since his adventure; he thought Luwai would enjoy a nice Rainbow Trout.  What could have happened that would bring Luwai to such sad spirits?

First, find a good size Rainbow Trout, about 100 cm in size, in order to cheer up Luwai.

When you get the Rainbow Trout and give it to Luwai as a gift, you will complete the quest and receive [Luwai’s Exploration Journal].

[Luwai's Exploration Journal]
This exploration journal is written in Luwai's distinctive handwriting. Its contents are illegible to you, but are rumored to be about Luwai's experience in exploring the Longa Desert Ruins. Dedicate this journal to the altar in the Longa Desert Ruins, and then you might be able to obtain a secret memory related to Luwai.

The Longa Desert Ruins can be found near Filia, an Elven town, located in Connous.  It is known to mysteriously disappear for a short amount of time every week. But when discovered, the location of the ruins will be visible on the Minimap.

If you offer [Luwai’s Exploration Journal] at the altar, you can experience what Luwai went through by becoming Luwai.

Getting through the Longa Desert Ruins as Luwai is not too difficult; however, you will encounter Desert Ghost Fanatics that you haven’t seen previously inside the Longa Desert Ruins.  Use the Smash and Defense skill to defeat them in order to reach the boss room.

The ice mirror is broken
piercing and freezing
the Heart of Courcle.

It is time.

Throbbing Heart of Courcle
speaks about the fate of this dark land.

The Fanatics are having a gathering in front of the Heart of Courcle inside the boss room.  So this is what Luwai must have seen.

The fight between Luwai and the Fanatics begin.  These Fanatics are much stronger than the ones you’ve encountered on the way to the boss room, so approach with caution.

The Heart of Courcle speaks about the fate of this dark land.

Come close...

Come closer…

Listen to the voice of fate…

After defeating all the Fanatics in the boss room, a new set of Fanatics will appear from the room across while you inspect the Heart of Courcle.

Just when you think there is no way out…
Chief Castanea from Filia, the Elven village, appears and rescues Luwai.

[Castanea]
You shouldn’t have come here.
These tragic events are just beginning…
I hope you’ll forget what you’ve experienced here.

The Desert Ghost Fanatics, the Heart of Courcle, and Chief Castanea’s appearance.
In the midst of all this chaos, Luwai’s memory stops here.

2) Voight’s Suspicion

At the entrance of Longa Desert Ruins, you begin to recall all of Luwai’s experience.
The Heart of Courcle really did exist as Chief Kawsay mentioned, but it was heavily guarded and surrounded by Fanatics.

You go to Filia to talk to Castanea, but she says she doesn’t know anything.  If you remain in Erinn, you will receive a message from Voight.

Voight is a relic appraiser who lives in Cor Village.

Voight, is it true that you found a clue regarding the Heart of Courcle?  How did you find it?

[Voight]
It was just a while ago. A stranger--wrapped in a thick, long robe--came to Cor. Imagine wearing a thick robe in this hot weather. At that time, we were even having the tropical nights phenomenon.  That's how I knew he was weird.

As far as bizarreness goes, his artifact was worse. It was severely damaged, and I was barely able to restore it. The restored artifact looked particularly strange. It seemed to be a fragment of a relic, and every time I would apply a different chemical to it, new information would be discovered as if I were peeling the layers of an onion.

Then I thought it might be the ’Heart of Courcle’, something that's recently been getting a lot of attention.

So, you’ve restored the fragment of the Heart of Courcle!

[Voight]
I don’t know anything about that man: his name, where he lives, or why he wanted to restore the artifact.

I didn’t even see his face because it was shrouded by the hood of his robe.

Still, no one can hide from my sharp eyes, you know? Judging by the way he walked and moved, I think he’s an Elf.

An Elf with the Heart of Courcle?
It’s unfortunate you didn’t get to see his face.

[Voight]
It’s fishy, you know? Out of curiosity, I borrowed Waboka's horse, though I didn't let him know about it, to go to Filia beyond the Longa Desert.

Guess what I found after riding the horse in the sandy wind of the desert?
"... ...Well, I’m sorry, but I’ve never heard of it before..."

That’s what all the Elves told me. Every single one of them said exactly the same thing.

Umm... Argh, this is getting more suspicious. I don’t believe them at all when they say that they’ve never heard of the Heart of Courcle. I mean, think about it.

Every single adventurer in Iria is desperately looking for that heart, yelling the “Heart of Courcle” everywhere they go.

I don’t know, but something strange is happening in Iria.

You received very important clues from Voight.

An Elf came to restore the fragment of the Heart of Courcle…
But all the Elves are saying they have no idea what that is.

The Heart of Courcle must have something to do with the Elves in Filia.

* You can receive another [Luwai’s Exploration Journal] from Luwai, should you fail the Luwai RP.
