6. The Truth about Tir Na Nog

Have you spoken with others about the [Paradise] keyword? Why do you think Tarlach has asked you to read this book?

1) The Unbelievable Truth

To meet Tarlach, head towards Sidhe Sneachta from Dunbarton.

[Tarlach]
...Did you actually read the book? You still want to go…? Just as I’d thought…
...Honestly, I was hoping that reading the book would be enough to satisfy your curiosity and that you would forget all about it…
...But, you can’t help that you’re an adventurer…

Of course, you wouldn’t let a book convince you to give up on reaching the paradise. A little book-reading can’t possibly stop you from going to Tir Na Nog, especially considering the favor of the Goddess…

[Tarlach]
Tir Na Nog… is not paradise. What’s on the book is actually a lie.
...Tir Na Nog is a real place, but it’s not anything like paradise.

Huh…?

[Tarlach]
Listen carefully… Tir Na Nog is the land of the Fomors. And… the Goddess, who seems so loving, draws zealous adventurers like yourself to manipulate and use you.

That has got to be a lie! Everyone else has praised Tir Na Nog as a place of eternal happiness, and the Goddess is said to be a figure that protects the Humans from harm. The Goddess sought help, and that’s why reaching Tir Na Nog is so important…Why would Tarlach say such a thing…?

[Tarlach]
…You don’t believe me, do you…? Hah… The pass I just gave you is what the Fomors use to enter dungeons... It’s an item they use to avoid the barriers set up by the Goddess. If you offer that to the statue of the Goddess in Barri Dungeon, you will witness everything I just told you with your own two eyes. Here’s a Red Wing of the Goddess, so use it if you need it… You can go there alone, but taking one of two friends with you is probably a better idea.

...Hmmm, Tarlach says to go to Barri Dungeon and see for yourself. Isn’t it a relief that he gave you a Red Wing of the Goddess though? It would have taken you almost a full day in Erinn Time to reach Bangor from Sidhe Sneachta.

[Tarlach]
…The best thing to do would be to forget trying to go to Tir Na Nog.
...Heed my warning…

Well, you should really go see for yourself. How could Tarlach claim that Tir Na Nog is the land of the Fomors...?

2) The Brown Fomor Pass

Check your Inventory once you’ve finished your conversation with Tarlach.

[Brown Fomor Pass]
A Brown Fomor Pass. Although it’s called a pass, it looks more like a talisman that gathers Mana. It is said that the forces of Fomor use this to move to dungeons. Tarlach said that if I place this on the altar in Barri Dungeon, I will know that Tir Na Nog is the land of the Fomor. Up to 3 people can enter Barri Dungeon.

[Red Wing of the Goddess]
This item moves the body and the spirit with no damage to a designated position. If the party leader uses it, all party members nearby will move together. Use this item to move to your destination.
Destination: [Barri Dungeon Lobby]

Although there is no restriction on using the Red Wing of the Goddess, you must adhere to the limit of 3 people to enter the dungeon using the Brown Fomor Pass.

Hmm… Perhaps Tarlach wants you to experience the dungeon the same way he did as one of the three warriors.

Place the Brown Fomor Pass you have received from Tarlach on the altar of the Goddess to enter a dungeon of higher difficulty level in comparison to the pre-existing Barri Dungeon. Although you can proceed alone, it is highly recommended that you enter with others for your safety.

The Brown Fomor Pass will not remain in your Inventory if you happen to abruptly forfeit or can no longer participate in the dungeon for any reason, as you will have already used the pass.

Return to Tarlach for another if you so desire.

[Tarlach]
The owl just happened to bring this back to me… so I figured you’d come back. Please be more careful with it next time.

Aren’t you grateful? Tarlach has generously given you another Brown Fomor Pass.
However, you cannot receive the Red Wing of the Goddess as you did the first time, so you must reach Bangor on your own without any assistance.

3) The Black Wizard of Barri Dungeon

After spending some time in the dungeon, you will be surprised to find yourself in the Boss Room.

The empty Boss Room of Barri Dungeon may seem mysteriously intimidating.

Then, you will suddenly see a black shadow.

[Black Wizard]
...Humans... This is a forbidden place that you cannot enter… How dare you disturb the guardian of the Fomor Medal!
...
You are clearly disobeying the will of the Goddess…! Those who rebel against the gods… you do not deserve to live! No one shall remember your existence… I’ll make sure you will be forever forgotten…

The Black Wizard says he is the guardian of the Fomor Medal. Hmm… Do you sense the hostility he’s exuding?

[Black Wizard]
I am here by the will of the Goddess! In the name of Goddess Morrighan, may a curse fall upon the human race!

The will of Goddess Morrighan? What does that mean? Could Tarlach have been right about her? Is she really the Goddess of the Fomors?

While millions of thoughts are going through your head, the Black Wizard and his guard, Wisp, will begin preparing their attack in the empty Boss Room.

4) The Fomor Medal

After an arduous toil with the Black Wizard, it is now time for you to go into the room with the treasures.

You will find some unfamiliar items in the treasure chest that you have not seen before.

Perhaps the Fomor Medal item is what the Black Wizard was guarding.

Discovering the truth about Tir Na Nog seems harder than expected. When and how will you find uncover the hidden truth…?

You will find out more about the Fomor Medal in the next episode.

[Note 1]
No one else will be able to enter the dungeon you have generated by placing the Brown Fomor Scroll. If you wish to allow others to enter, they must enter when the dungeon is first being generated.

[Note 2]
If you cannot proceed with the quest because a Storyline Item has disappeared, go back to the NPC who initially gave you the item and talk to him/her again to receive another one.
