15. The Incarnation of Destruction

Having asked Priestess Kristell to translate 3 volumes of the [Book of Revenge], let’s have a look around the town of Dunbarton. People seem to be going about their busy lives… But there is the impending doom that may be brought upon Erinn… the Fomors…
I don’t think anyone in Erinn has the slightest idea…

1) The 3 Volumes of the Book of Revenge

After about 1 hour in Erinn time, you will receive a message from Priestess Kristell.

[Kristell]
You are back… Here is the translated copy you’ve been waiting for...
…With that, I have finished the translation for all three volumes of The Book of Revenge.
...
I have to warn you that…this last volume contains some very disturbing stories...

Priestess Kristell, you look extremely tired. I guess with all the news about Tarlach, then translating 3 volumes of the Book of Revenge… Well, now that you’re done with all 3 of the books, I don’t think you’ll have to worry about those any more…

Thank you, Kristell.

Finally, it is the end! Let’s take a look at the third volume of the Book of Revenge.

The Book of Revenge, Volume 3
(Translated)
By Mores

Now's the time for the world of humans to burn and disappear.
The Gods and nature have all turned their backs on the humans.
To them, the future shall not exist.

Destruction is a prelude to creation.
The first step in creating nirvana
will be that of eliminating all mankind.
Let us all shout his name.
Glas Ghaibhleann!

Introduction

To all Fomor warriors, the Goddess of Revenge has allowed us to deal a judgment blow to the humans that are incapacitated with greed and lust.

Do not question the Goddess's intention. Do not question my words only because I am a human being. Remember Jabchiel, the one you have followed in spite of the fact that he was a human being.

I ask you to now show me the same level of trust and dedication you have had for Jabchiel. I, Mores, will never do anything to betray your trust. I will value my life as a friend of Fomor and spend every second looking for ways to destroy humans in this world. Moreover, I will prove it to each and every one of you.

The Third Cry of Revenge

Fomors are born as outstanding, powerful beings. There is no plausible way Fomors should fall behind humans in anything, whether it be individual battles or group battles. How can Fomors be compared to foolish humans who are only too concerned with themselves?

Even with this, the two wars that took place in  Mag Tuireadh turned out to be colossal losses for the Fomors. If this had made you question the true powers of the Fomors, think again. This is only a slight misstep in the overall picture. Believe in your immense powers, Fomors. Under the guidance of Goddess Morrighan, we will emerge victorious where it matters the most, the final battle.

As I have previously mentioned, the humans won last time with betrayal and deceit, not because the Fomors were inferior to them. Humans even crossed the values of God to emerge victorious in the battle, and this has only caused their already-growing ego to skyrocket. It has come to the point where the Gods are now turning their backs on these foolish humans.

Unfortunately, we do not currently have enough power to exact the ultimate revenge on these humans. YET. It will be good to wait until we are strong enough to overthrow them, but we do not have the luxury to wait.

As long as the humans have their sights on Tir Na Nog, the paradise of the Gods, they will inevitably turn the place into just another conquered land governed by human values, and that'll be a tragedy unlike any other. It is our duty to block them from taking over Tir Na Nog and restore order in this corrupt world.

So what can we do to combat the greed of humans and destroy their world? To do so, we'll need to dominate them from the very beginning and sweep over their land with ruthless abandon.

Remember the battle on Sen Mag Plains against the humans. Remember the dominating victory we had on them. Humans had no time to react and were swept away by the Fomors. They had to retreat from the Plains, licking their wounds.

That's right. We can do this by reviving the one being that set the human society ablaze, Glas Ghaibhleann. It may be difficult to summon Glas Ghaibhleann, but it's not impossible. I have already figured out a way to do so. It is true the remnants of Glas Ghaibhleann are few and far between, but it's not impossible, given the guidance of the Goddess and our strong desire for revenge.

Also remember that the Goddess has opened the doors to Erinn. We can obtain everything we need in Erinn to summon Glas Ghaibhleann once more.

Prepare yourselves for the journey to summon Glas Ghaibhleann. Right NOW.

Conclusion

Our enemies are now at the point where their egos have reached such heights that they are forgetting who they really are, or what to do. The Goddess of War who has continuously guided the humans, has blessed us with revenge. And the Nature of Erinn so eager to lend a helping hand to the humans, has now realized how despicable they really are and has ceased cooperating with them.

We may be weakened after the two devastating losses in the war, but we have also found a way to restore order by demolishing Erinn.

Everything we need is now ready, be it the support from the Gods or the lackadaisical state of the humans. It is the perfect time for us to set the human society ablaze. Remember, the glory of Tir Na Nog shall be in our hands!

Everyone who has decided to restore order in this world of chaos with help from Glas Ghaibhleann shall remember my three cries of revenge. Always.

The 3rd volume… was filled with details about Glas Ghaibhleann and how he will destroy the Humans living in Erinn. What in the world is the Glas Ghaibhleann they are talking about?

Once you’re done reading, you could also do a detailed reading.

Once you’ve successfully read the book in detail, you will be given the keyword, [Glas Ghaibhleann].

Take the 3rd volume of the Book of Revenge to Chief Duncan and talk to him.

Chief Duncan, the 3rd Volume of the Book of Revenge talks about the impending invasion by the Fomors and Glas Ghaibhleann…

[Duncan]
What? What did you just say? G…Glas Ghaibhleann? This can't be... Where did you hear that name from?

…Does the third book of Fomors cover that? I'd like to read it. If you have it on you, please let me see it. If you haven't finished reading it, you can give it to me after you're done reading.

I’m done reading it, so I’ll give it to you.

Chief Duncan starts reading as soon as he receives the book. The look on his face is worrisome.

[Duncan]
This can't be! Things are a lot more serious than I'd thought. This is a problem. What should we do?

Is it that serious of an issue? What is Glas Ghaibhleann?

[Duncan]
Glas Ghaibhleann is a legendary giant  that destroyed everything within its sight with hatred and anger.  It's impossible to describe the fear this monster generates.

[Duncan]
Once, Glas Ghaibhleann was commanded by a God of Fomors rampaging all across Erinn.  There was simply nothing we could do about it.

That's was around the time where Partholons, our ancestors who ruled this continent, were totally decimated and sought refuge in this small mountainous district.

So it is an extremely dangerous monster then… Well, what should we do now? How can we defeat that monster?

[Duncan]
I'm sorry... I'm a bit startled right now and I can't articulate myself properly.  It'd be more helpful for you to read books written by our ancestors who fought valiantly against this monster.  Let's see.
...
...?
...!!
It's not here.

... Chief Duncan... Now is not the time to be joking around! How are we supposed to fight Glas Ghaibhleann without it?

[Duncan]
...Ah, don't be disappointed. I just forgot about the fact that I recently lent it to someone else. He lives in Bangor, and... and... what was his name... B-Bra... That's right! Bryce is the person who borrowed the book.

Tell Bryce about me to get the book and read it.  That book will contain far more information than anything I can tell you right now.

It is quite fortunate that we have the book about Glas Ghaibhleann. As for Bangor… that’s where you went to see Sion a while back.

Bryce is the banker in Bangor and is also the father of Ibbie, the girl for whom Sion has a major crush.

Bryce, would it be possible to see the book that you’ve borrowed from Chief Duncan?

[Bryce]
…So you must be the one who spoke to Duncan in Tir Chonaill.  I was roughly brought up to speed through an owl he sent to me. I've always had an interest in old stories, so when I happened to meet the Chief, I was able to read this book.  I am done with this book now, so you can take it if you want to. By the way, I found something very interesting in this book.  Apparently, resurrecting that monster requires this mineral called Adamantium.  Adamantium is a mystical metal that's resistant to magic powers.  It's a type of metal that can only be found in the mines of Bangor.

Hmm… Adamantium… from the mines of Bangor…

[Bryce]
The problem is... Adamantium is currently no longer produced in the mines of Bangor.  And apparently, it's been like that for a long time. When this happens, it's either one of these things.

Either this region has run out of Adamantium deposits...  Or... Someone else is mining them all…

!!!

Does that mean that the Fomors are really in the process of creating Glas Ghaibhleann?

Finish your conversation with Bryce, and you will be given the book titled, [The Embodiment of Destruction, Glas Ghaibhleann] and the keyword, [Glas Ghaibhleann’s Bone].

Once you confirm your receipt of the keyword, read the book , [The Embodiment of Destruction, Glas Ghaibhleann]. Do you finally understand what Glas Ghaibhleann is all about?

[The Embodiment of Destruction, Glas Ghaibhleann]

A book that describes the truth about Glas Ghaibhleann.

- The Embodiment of Destruction, Glas Ghaibhleann -
Written by Meian

1. Introduction

It was when I was young... I saw it. The howling of the gruesome looking giants...as they were setting everything on fire. Many people were injured or killed, and those who barely survived begged for mercy or ran for their lives. However, there was no one foolish enough to challenge this monster.
It's been a long time since. I wonder how many people still remember the giant today. Who still remembers the name... Glas Ghaibhleann...?

Even after I became an adult, I couldn't find a way to escape from the fear of this monster, and the fear of my youth continued to haunt me. Only after a long time had passed, I finally came to the conclusion that I must prevent a monster like that from ever coming to Erinn again and destroy everything we've worked hard for.

Since then, I began traveling to discover the identity of the Glas Ghaibhleann. I went and spoke to people who claimed to have seen a Glas Ghaibhleann up close, looked through ancient writings, and even sought the wisdom of Druids. After more than a decade, I finally wrote down my research in this book.

I hope that through this book, we will once again remember the giant who set the human world on fire and brought upon chaos and destruction, so that this will never happen again. Also, I hope people will pay close attention to the signs that could predict the giant's arrival.

2. What is a Glas Ghaibhleann?

The first mention of a Glas Ghaibhleann in the ancient writings came before the Mag Tuireadh wars, during the war between Partholons and Fomors, at the plains of Sen Mag. There is a story that says several giants. Larger than a house, came and destroyed and burned everything... which must've been the Glas Ghaibhleanns. Through the sacrifice of tens of thousands of men, they were able to defeat some of them, but the toxin and the darkness that spewed out of them as they were defeated turned Sen Mag into an uninhabitable place.  What is more, in the place where the Glas Ghaibhleann fell, hundreds of Fomors appeared and wiped out all the weary remaining Partholons.

There is another famous story about Cian, which involves around the Glas Ghaibhleann.  Cian was the father of the king of light, Loucetios. It is said that he went to go see a Glas Ghaibhleann and he was able receive his son Loucetios, from that meeting.  This Glas Ghaibhleann was given to a craftsman named Gabhaidheachd Go from the Fomor king Balor, to burn and destroy the human world. However, because Gabhaidheachd Go was not a summoner, he eventually lost the Glas Ghaibhleann.

Besides these, there are other records of Glas Ghaibhleanns. It has not been officially confirmed, but there are records that Glas Ghaibhleanns were spotted during the Mag Tuireadh wars, and even in the story of the three missing Warriors, a Glas Ghaibhleann is mentioned there as well.  However, these stories have no way of being confirmed, so it has been excluded in this book.

3. The Life of a Glas Ghaibhleann

Generally, a Glas Ghaibhleann is a creature shrouded by mystery. It is known to eat gold. One has to wonder how much it needs to eat to manage its enormous size. There are also differing opinions and descriptions regarding the Glas Ghaibhleann's ability to reason and think. However, none of the testimonies seem credible due to the fact that all the accounts are quite old.

There have been rare discoveries of large dense bones that seem to be from another world. Scholars presume that it belongs to the Glas Ghaibhleann. However, strangely, these bones have never been found in one place but scattered all throughout Erinn, discovered piece by piece.

Therefore, finding out the life and death, and the life span of the Glas Ghaibhleann is extremely difficult. It is not even known if there is a distinction of male and female. However, there is no evidence that Glas Ghaibhleanns reproduce, which can only mean one thing: They are summoned into this world through a powerful magic.

In order to liberate ourselves from the disaster of Glas Ghaibhleanns, we have to be aware of how the Glas Ghaibhleann is summoned.

4. Summon Method : Forming the Skeletal Frame

According to the ancient records I looked up, summoning a Glas Ghaibhleann requires several procedures. The most important step that seems to be common in all the records is forming the skeletal frame.  In order to summon the Glas Ghaibhleann, it is said that one needs to collect all the bones of the ancient giant after it has deceased.  If even one of the bones are missing, the summon doesn't work.

In the case where bones are missing, it is said that they can be created artificially using metals. Using the artificial bones, the Glas Ghaibhleann's skeletal frame can still be formed. However, not just any metal will do the trick. This is because the summoned Glas Ghaibhleann's weight and power cannot be withstood by ordinary metal. There is only one type of metal that can endure the powerful yet swift movements of the Glas Ghaibhleann: Adamantium, the strongest metal known in Erinn.

Adamantium is a dark blue colored metal and it is extremely durable. It is also very rare, so much so that, there is probably not enough in all of Erinn to make a whole skeletal frame of one Glas Ghaibhleann.

5. Summon Method: Using the Magic Sample

Because of its rarity and durability, Adamantium is a highly desirable metal, but its true worth is the fact that it nullifies all magic. In other words, swords made of Adamantium can break through any magical defense, as well as shields made of Adamantium can block any magic attack.  Even when Adamantium is used partially, mixed with other regular steel, these effects are still shown.

However, this attribute of Adamantium actually serves as an obstacle when summoning the Glas Ghaibhleann. Because the Adamantium nullifies magic, the magic to summon the Glas Ghaibhleann doesn't work as well.  In order to overcome this, a sample that contains the knowledge of ancient magic is needed. Once you put the sample on the skeletal frame made of Adamantium, the ancient magic power seeps into the bones and amazingly, the Adamantium's natural attribute disappears and works as part of the summoning process. (This shows you what kind of creature the Glas Ghaibhleann is)

The sample's exact formula is unknown, but considering the fact that summoning the Glas Ghaibhleann can mean the destruction of the entire world, it's probably better that it is unknown.

6. Completing the Summon

Once the sample is rubbed on the skeletal frame and the summon magic used, the power and limbs from the other world begin growing on the skeletal frame and forms the body. During this entire process, a steady and secure supply of Mana is required and this is too difficult for a regular Wizard.

If the Mana's supply is successfully supplied, the Glas Ghaibhleann slowly grows and forms as it begins listening to the summoner. Once the summon is finished, the used up Mana is blackened and dissolves back into the environment as it darkens the sky.

Once the summon is complete, the Glas Ghaibhleann needs a significant amount of food... which is gold. If it does not eat, it will become more ferocious and go wild, eventually dissolving back to bones.

According to one theory, this is why monsters always carry around gold. Therefore, if there is an increase in monsters spotted carrying gold, it could be that they are preparing to summon the Glas Ghaibhleann.

7. Split Summon

Glas Ghaibhleann is a creature with enormous strength and magic power. However, imagine this.  What would happen if the summoned Glas Ghaibhleann doesn't listen to the summoner and begins acting on its own will and volition, fighting against the summoner?

This implies that a powerful summoned-being's will can conflict with the summoner and become uncontrollable. So when dealing with a powerful summoned-being such as the Glas Ghaibhleann, how the summoner will control it becomes an interesting question.

One of the solutions to this problem is using a summon method that excludes the summoned-being's will. When this happens, even the smallest of instincts of the summoned-being is determined by the summoner; therefore, the summoner can completely control the summoned-being.

This method of course requires a high level of magic skill, but anyone who is fairly familiar with summoning can do it with some preparations and caution.

8. Added Soul Phenomenon

One interesting thing happens during this type of summon. The summoned-being's will that has been separated from the being appears in the form of a spirit, which is known as the Added Soul.

The separated will has nowhere to go and either attaches onto a nearby creature or it becomes its own entity.  Sometimes it becomes an unidentifiable creature like the Wisp.  It can even become a bird or a four legged creature and there have also been reports that they have taken the form of a human.

The Added Soul has a completely different exterior from the summoned-being and shows no reaction towards the summoned-being. However, subconsciously, it roams around near the summoned-being to become unified with the being as they are drawn to one another. Sometimes, this can cause a side effect to your summon and cause an entirely different outcome than what you had intended. Therefore when using the method of eliminating the summoned-being's will, you need to watch out for this.

The Added Soul phenomenon not only occurs between the relationship of the mind and body in one entity, but it can happen between two different entities that have a very intimate relationship such as husband and wife, friends, and couples. Some scholars use this phenomenon to explain the Soul Stream.

9. Conclusion

With that, I have explained all that I know about the Glas Ghaibhleann. Please remember all that is in this book so that the tragedy of the past will never occur again...

Now I entrust the future of Erinn to you.
