To stop Esras from being able to carry out her plot as well as to save Lord Rian, we, including Redire, are following Esras.
1) Tabhartas
After Esras disappeared, we found ourselves at the Goddess altar of Barri Dungeon. When you look at the Inventory, you will be able find the Pass given to you by Esras.
[Barri Dungeon Pass]
A pass left by Esras. I should go drop it at the Barri dungeon atlar alone and go where the Lord is.
Take this Pass and place it on the altar of Barri Dungeon and you will be able to meet Redire there.
[Redire]
Right here! There's no time! We must find Lord Rian! You take care of the monsters. I'll look for the Lord.
…Trust me on this one.
Redire then takes off into the dungeon.
I wonder, though, if saving Lord Rian and defeating Esras will put all this to an end? What has happened to becoming a true Knight of Light… You still have a lot of questions, but for now, will have to focus on saving Lord Rian.
The dungeon you have followed Esras into is made of 4 levels and has a difficulty level that is similar to the Barri Basic Dungeon. As much as this dungeon needs to be cleared all by yourself, you will need to pay careful attention.
Go to the Boss’ Room and you will be able to meet Esras.
[Esras]
You both are much slower than I thought.
[Redire]
Esras! Where's the Lord! What did you do to him!!!
[Esras]
The Lord...? Oh... Are you talking about Rian...? I don't know if you are qualified to ask me about the well-being of "the Lord."
[Redire]
Answer my question!!! Where's my Lord!!!
[Esras]
Hahahaha.... Since you seem desperate to find out, here, I'll give you an answer.
…You are looking at the new Lord of Emain Macha. I've been the Lord of Emain Macha for quite some time now.
[Esras]
…And soon… the Lord of Erinn…
[Redire]
…What? You must be out of your mind...
[Esras]
You sound confident as usual, Redire... However…that only holds true if you have power to back it up. Let me show you an example of what that means.
Esras summons a Giant Golem.
And it’s a Golem made of gold? It looks different than the ones I’d seen before… The word that had come out throughout our investigations was… no… Tabhartas!!?
[Redire]
…This Golem... No…no way... Is it Tabhartas....?
[Esras]
No wonder you were the leader of Paladins. You instantly recognized this Golem…
…Yes. This is Tabhartas. The gatekeeper of the Ancient Wisdom... and now, a loyal servant of mine who will carry my order of getting rid of you once and for all…
[Redire]
Oh my gosh… the whole body is covered in Gold... I didn't know you'd resort to this…
[Esras]
Well…this is all thanks to the Paladin trainees. As you might already know, Tabhartas is the prototype for all Golems... It took me a while to control him myself.
So please… have some respect for him. He's not just another ordinary Golem.
[Redire]
...!! Do NOT leave my side!
[Esras]
Tabhartas... I will now give you an order. Show your loyalty by crushing those invaders!
2) Knight of Light
The ancient giant… Tabhartas. He slowly starts to move with Esras’ command. You will now have to defeat Tabhartas along with Redire. But there’s no amount of attacks that I can make which are enough to cause any real damage. What is it that I have to do?
Just as you’re pausing, unsure of your next move, Redire falls over to the ground.
Redire! Are you okay?!!
[Redire]
Ahhhhh… my leg... it's broken... I can't believe this…
[Esras]
Even a so-called Paladin like you is rendered useless in front of a monster like Tabhartas.
Hahaha…
[Redire]
Ahhhh…do not say the name Paladin with your serpent tongue!!! A real Paladin... The Knight of Light… shall be invincible!
[Esras]
So … this proves that you are not a true Paladin. Then where is this true Paladin that should come riiight about now…
…to save you?
Tabhartas, finish him!!!
Redire is right below Tabhartas’ giant foot. No!!!!
[Esras]
Oh... that was either very brave… or very very unnecessary. Most humans don't even stand a chance against a regular Golem...
[Redire]
…Move over!! Save yourself! We do not need to create more casualties!
Enough! We can’t just let him get trampled like that!!!!
[Esras]
I take it that you can take some more pounding. That's a lot longer than I expected. However, you are only human, which means the end is near.
…Your destiny has been decided... Death by Tabhartas. It was your call, not mine.
[Redire]
... No.... Forget about me…just run!
I am convincted that I need to protect Redire from Tabhartas, and to protect Erinn, and in a moment, feel myself transforming along with a ray of light.
[Esras]
What is that!!
[Redire]
…This…cannot be...
…the Knight of Light…
…The true power of the Knight of Light…?
[Esras]
This is not happening!!! A kid like you cannot and should not be a true Paladin!!!
....Ahhhh...
…Tabhartas, I am giving you an order. Annihilate the kid so the kid will never see the light again!
As a Paladin, you are now strong enough to battle against Tabhartas. Keep your chin up and confidently enter into battle.
When you are a Paladin, your EXP increases rapidly. However, there is only a limited amount of time that you can be a Paladin, plus your transformation becomes undone the minute you become incapacitated which means that you would have to complete the rest of the battle as your regular self.
Also, you have not yet fully obtained the transforming skill of the Paladin, which means that once your transformation has become undone, you will not be able to transform back into a Paladin.
For Erinn!! And for the happiness of all people, you must do everything you can to defeat Tabhartas.
3) Ruairi’s Misunderstanding
Once you have defeated Tabhartas with all your might, you will continue conversing with Esras.
[Esras]
I can't believe this... T... Tabhartas... gone… just like that…
…You…must…be... the...
…Knight of Light...??
…No… it's just an urban legend. No…
What is that… that is headed toward this way… Is it Morgant?
[Morgant]
Paladin...?
…and Tabhartas?
…So it is you...who caused all that chaos in the dungeon...
It looks like one of those ancient Golems…
…Wait a minute… then this must be controlled by the kind of magic that isn't proper by any means…
Morgant is talking complete nonsense while striking down on Tabhartas with a sword. From the insides of Tabhartas appears Ruairi’s younger brother, Lord Rian.
[Morgant]
I knew it. So it would use a human sacrifice to control this Golem...
And Ruairi too followed. Of course, all he could see was his brother Rian.
[Ruairi]
Rian...? Rian? Rian!!!! Rian!!!! Who is it.... Tell me...!!!! Who did this to Rian!!!
[Ruairi]

[Morgant]
Morrighan… you succeeded... You awakened the kid as a true Paladin much faster than I expected...

I know that there is nothing that one could say in this moment that would make Ruairi believe all that’s happened.
I was just thinking that I should explain when Tabhartas and Rian disappeared with an extremely bright light.

[Ruairi]
…Why... Why... Why do you not respond to my tears and pleas for help, Morrighan??
…What else do I have to lose for you to answer my pleas…??
[Morgant]
…Let's go back, Ruairi. I'll help you channel that anger into the kind power no one has ever seen.
…I will give you the kind of power to punish this world without having to rely on the power of gods.

4) The Battle against Esras
It is hard to say… just where everything started to go wrong. All I wanted to do was to help others… and wanted to help save the Goddess… But Rian, the very person I wanted to help save, is now gone… And Ruairi has lost his only brother.
How could this have happened…
[Redire]
... It is not your fault. The Lord was probably long gone when he became a sacrificial offering for that Golem....
[Esras]
…You are trying to put the blame on others, Redire. You should take responsibility for Rian's death as well. Don't you remember? That night… The Lord was injured by your sword...
…and lost his life after all the Fomors retreated....
[Redire]
…What...? The Lord passed away...during the great tragedy of Emain Macha...?!!!
[Esras]
Yes. I did not announce his death at the time. But I could not just sit there and watch you cause all that chaos and tragedy…
[Redire]
…Are you saying… you used the corpse of The Lord... to control that Golem…?
…Wait, even worse...The Lord has ruled Emain Macha all this time …as a dead man…??

[Esras]
That is not true... Even in death, he followed my order to the fullest. I mean, to tell you the truth…I've been the Lord of Emain Macha all this time.
[Redire]
...!!! N... Necromancy!!! I thought it was forbidden for Druids...
...!!! You are not a Druid, after all. You were a necromancer all this time... How dare a necromancer try to govern Emain Macha!!!
[Esras]
Hahaha… that took you a long time to figure it out. Think about this, though... Emain Macha thrived like never before under my watch... It proves that a necromancer is better equipped than a druid to lead, no?

…I still have more than enough corpses and Gold to follow my orders... All I need to do is to find another Golem at Ceo Island and make another Tabhartas, and if I can find the Ancient Wisdom... I won't be stopped. Ever!
Before all that, though… you two will have to pay for slightly delaying my grand scheme of things…
You will now finally enter the battle against Esras. Esras summons the Black Skeletons which are extremely powerful. Even if you are able to defeat these monsters, Esras will continue to re-summon them, so continue on with the goal of bringing down Esras in the end.
[Esras]
No... It is not happening... You are not even in Paladin form...
…My dream... my…future...cannot…be…stopped.... now... No....
Esras... You have tried to fulfill your own desires while taking away others’ happiness. There is just no excuse for something like that… But that goes for me as well…
And the fallen Esras seems to have completely disappeared. Then appears Goddess Morrighan.
[Morrighan]
You fought well ... You didn't let me down. You become the Knight of Light, as I expected...
But.. Rian is... And Ruairi was...
[Morrighan]
The power you have acquired... and the path you took in order to do so... definitely tells a story. Please use your power wisely...
What about Cichol… What’s happened to Cichol?
[Morrighan]
…I can sense the power of Cichol expanding. However, what worries me the most is his minions, the Dark Knights…
Please watch out for those Dark Knights... They will do everything in their power to bring darkness and chaos upon Erinn...
When darkness engulfs Erinn, please shine a light through the darkness as a Paladin and protect Erinn from eternal darkness.
With Morrighan’s words, you will see the ending sequence.
In the ending sequence, you will see a montage of all the characters that had appeared in Generation 2: Paladin. When you’ve finished watching the ending sequence, return to Emain Macha to obtain the skills related to being a Paladin. You will now be able to transform into a Paladin as you wish.

If you are not able to successfully clear the dungeon in which you followed Esras, you will have to go back into the Emain Macha castle and start over again.
5) In Conclusion
This is the end of Mabinogi Generation 2 : Paladin. But the Main Storyline of Mabinogi is not yet over. Cichol and the Dark Knights are growing in strength while Goddess Morrighan has asked that you protect this world.
