With this skill, you cast a wall of spikes, which work as a barrier that defends against enemy attack and allows you to pierce the exposed bodies with long distance attacks. You eventually emerge victorious…

I. What is Barrier Spikes?
Barrier Spikes is an Alchemy skill that provides protection for you and your allies by creating a wall. Assembled with sharp, spiky blocks, this wall will thwart enemy attack and even allow you to deal damage as your Skill rank increases.
II. Learning the Barrier Spikes Skill
You can acquire the Barrier Spikes skill by completing the [Alchemist Seal] mission given at the beginning of the G9 storyline, “Alchemist.”
III. Using the Barrier Spikes Skill
In order to install the Barrier Spikes, you must first possess a [Cylinder] and a [Barrier Spikes Crystal].
1. Making the Barrier Spikes Crystal
In order to make the Barrier Spikes Crystal, you need 1 [Clay Crystal] and 3 pieces of [Firewood].
When you click the [Steam Oven] located in front of the Alchemist House, a Crystallization pop-up window will be displayed. If you place the proper ingredients inside and successfully complete the Crystallization process, you can acquire the [Barrier Spikes Crystal].
2. Installing the Barrier Spikes
The process of installing the Barrier Spikes is limited to the [Shadow Realm] and [Dungeons].
When you first select the skill for use, a transparent cut-out of the Barrier Spikes will appear. This simply means that a location needs to be selected for placement of the Spikes. (Note: If a red mark appears, it is indication that you cannot install the Barrier Spikes on the location you have chosen and must place it elsewhere.)
Once you have selected an appropriate location, the Barrier Spikes will be installed, creating a cloud of dust in the process.
Once installed, the Barrier Spikes will protect you and your allies from enemy attack until its durability reaches 0 or the time expires (at which point it will collapse). It is important that you frequently check the durability during the battle so that you won’t be taken aback when the Barrier Spikes disappear.
3. Strengthening the Barrier Spikes
Upon learning the skill for the first time, you are only able to install 1 set of Barrier Spikes. However, your ability to install more sets will increase as you advance your rank.
In addition, the Barrier Spikes will strengthen and provide greater versatility as you advance. Though the Barrier Spikes serve mainly a defensive purpose in the initial Skill ranks, once you reach Rank 9, you will have the ability to inflict damage on enemies that use melee attacks.
Once you’ve reached Rank 5 for the skill, you can safely attack enemies on the other side of the Barrier Spikes, affording you a great advantage in battle.
IV. Rank Up
As your Barrier Spikes Skill rank goes up, the stats and versatility of the effects will increase (some of these were mentioned in the previous section). The following is a chart detailing all the various effects at each respective Skill rank.
